Citizens Financial Group
Citizens Financial Group's revenue rose 5.6% to $8.2 billion in fiscal 2025. Net income was $1.8 billion, up 21.3%. Its return on equity was 7.2%, up from 6.2% a year earlier. Its efficiency ratio was 64.4%, down from 67.0% a year earlier. It paid out $1.4 billion in dividends and buybacks. The diluted share count fell 3.7%.
Return on equity is net income as a share of shareholders' equity; return on tangible equity leaves out goodwill and other intangible assets. The efficiency ratio is operating costs as a share of revenue, so lower means the bank spends less to earn each dollar. Market cap is the last closing share price times the latest diluted share count, so it is approximate. P/E is the last close divided by diluted earnings per share over the last four quarters, or the latest fiscal year where the quarters aren't available; there is none when the company made a loss.
What Citizens Financial Group does
Citizens Financial Group is a bank holding company based in Providence, Rhode Island. It offers everyday banking, lending and investment services to individuals, small businesses, mid-sized companies, large corporations and institutions. It reports two segments. Consumer Banking serves individuals and small businesses with deposits, mortgages, home equity loans, credit cards, small business loans and wealth management. It also offers education and point-of-sale loans and some digital deposit products nationwide. Commercial Banking serves companies and institutions with loans and leases, deposit and treasury services, foreign exchange and risk management, and capital markets and advisory work. Like most banks, it earns money mainly from interest on loans and securities, less interest paid on deposits, and from fees.

Its biggest risks, as it describes them
- Changes in interest rates, which can affect its profit, its liquidity and the value of its securities.
- Borrowers' credit quality getting worse, which can cause loan losses.
- Reliance on customer deposits as its main low-cost source of funding.
- Rules and limits from its bank regulators on what it can do.
- Failing to carry out its business strategy, or to attract and keep skilled staff.

Valuation
Value Citizens Financial Group yourself from its earnings. A bank's cash flow is mostly the money it lends and takes in, so the cash flow model on other company pages doesn't suit it.
Price-to-earnings (P/E) method
Another common way to value a company is to multiply its earnings per share by a price-to-earnings (P/E) multiple: the number of years of today's earnings an investor pays for a share. A higher multiple usually means investors expect earnings to grow. Choose a multiple, for example from similar companies, to see the value it gives.
Value per share on three example scenarios, from Citizens Financial Group's earnings per share of $4.60 (over the last four quarters). Each grows earnings for a year at the cash flow scenarios' rates and applies a multiple to next year's earnings: 13.8×, the middle of Citizens Financial Group's own P/E today, its peers' median and its sector's median (the Financials median) for the base scenario, 20% less and more for the cautious and optimistic ones. The price is brought back a year at 11%, 10% and 9%. Select one to load it into the calculator. These are the model's arithmetic on those assumptions, not a forecast or a price target.
