PNC Financial Services
PNC Financial Services' revenue rose 7.2% to $23.1 billion in fiscal 2025. Net income was $7.0 billion, up 17.5%. Its return on equity was 12.2%, up from 11.3% a year earlier. Its efficiency ratio was 59.9%, down from 62.7% a year earlier. It paid out $4.0 billion in dividends and buybacks. The diluted share count fell 1.0%.
Return on equity is net income as a share of shareholders' equity; return on tangible equity leaves out goodwill and other intangible assets. The efficiency ratio is operating costs as a share of revenue, so lower means the bank spends less to earn each dollar. Market cap is the last closing share price times the latest diluted share count, so it is approximate. P/E is the last close divided by diluted earnings per share over the last four quarters, or the latest fiscal year where the quarters aren't available; there is none when the company made a loss.
What PNC Financial Services does
PNC is a bank holding company based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and says it is one of the largest diversified financial institutions in the United States. It has businesses in retail banking, corporate and institutional banking, and asset management. It serves individuals and businesses with deposits, loans and fee-based services, and offers specialized services for corporations and government entities, including real estate finance and asset-based lending, plus wealth management. Its retail branch network runs coast to coast, and it has offices in four other countries.
It does most of its business through PNC Bank, a national bank chartered in Wilmington, Delaware. A bank makes money mainly from the difference between interest it earns on loans and pays on deposits, plus fees. At the end of 2025, PNC's total assets were $573.6 billion and its total deposits were $440.9 billion. Its non-bank subsidiaries do market-making, securities underwriting and advisory work.
On January 5, 2026, PNC completed its purchase of FirstBank Holding Company in Colorado. At closing FirstBank had $26.4 billion of assets. PNC plans to merge FirstBank into PNC Bank. PNC is closely regulated, mainly by the Federal Reserve and the OCC, and by the CFPB and FDIC on some matters.
Its biggest risks, as it describes them
- Weak economic conditions that hurt its customers and its own results.
- Customers and other parties not repaying loans, and a mix of assets that could raise credit losses.
- Changing interest rates and Federal Reserve policy, which affect its earnings.
- Capital and liquidity rules that affect its ability to pay dividends, and a credit rating downgrade.
- Technology failures and cyber attacks affecting its systems and customers' information.

Valuation
Value PNC Financial Services yourself from its earnings. A bank's cash flow is mostly the money it lends and takes in, so the cash flow model on other company pages doesn't suit it.
Price-to-earnings (P/E) method
Another common way to value a company is to multiply its earnings per share by a price-to-earnings (P/E) multiple: the number of years of today's earnings an investor pays for a share. A higher multiple usually means investors expect earnings to grow. Choose a multiple, for example from similar companies, to see the value it gives.
Value per share on three example scenarios, from PNC Financial Services' earnings per share of $18.16 (over the last four quarters). Each grows earnings for a year at the cash flow scenarios' rates and applies a multiple to next year's earnings: 12.4×, the middle of PNC Financial Services' own P/E today, its peers' median and its sector's median (PNC Financial Services' own P/E today) for the base scenario, 20% less and more for the cautious and optimistic ones. The price is brought back a year at 10%, 9% and 8%. Select one to load it into the calculator. These are the model's arithmetic on those assumptions, not a forecast or a price target.
