First Financial Bancorp
First Financial Bancorp's revenue rose 7.7% to $900 million in fiscal 2025. Net income was $256 million, up 11.7%. Its return on equity was 9.8%, up from 9.7% a year earlier. Its efficiency ratio was 60.1%, down from 62.2% a year earlier. It paid out $95 million in dividends and buybacks. The diluted share count rose 0.8%.
Return on equity is net income as a share of shareholders' equity; return on tangible equity leaves out goodwill and other intangible assets. The efficiency ratio is operating costs as a share of revenue, so lower means the bank spends less to earn each dollar. Market cap is the last closing share price times the latest diluted share count, so it is approximate. P/E is the last close divided by diluted earnings per share over the last four quarters, or the latest fiscal year where the quarters aren't available; there is none when the company made a loss.

What First Financial Bancorp does
First Financial Bancorp is a financial holding company based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Its subsidiary, First Financial Bank, was founded in 1863 and is chartered in Ohio. The bank serves individuals and businesses with commercial lending, real estate lending and consumer financing, along with deposit accounts, cash management services, and trust and wealth management.
Its real estate loans are secured by homes or by commercial property such as apartments, shopping centers and offices. Commercial and industrial loans cover business needs such as inventory, receivables and equipment. The bank also does lease and equipment financing through its Summit Funding Group subsidiary, and lends across the U.S. to restaurant franchisees through First Franchise Capital and to the insurance industry, investment advisors, accountants and indirect auto finance companies through Oak Street Funding.
As with other banks, it earns money from the interest on its loans, and it also earns fees. In August 2025 it agreed to merge with BankFinancial Corporation.
Its biggest risks, as it describes them
- Policy changes by the Federal Reserve that affect banks, the money supply or credit conditions.
- Loan defaults and foreclosures, which no bank can avoid.
- Failures of its systems, employees or counterparties.
- Fraud and cybersecurity incidents that could bring liability and harm its reputation.
- Needing to borrow more if deposits fall.
Income statement
From fiscal 2016 to 2025, earnings per share grew 7.1% a year and net income 12.5% a year, as new shares raised the share count by 55% and diluted each share's earnings.
